NEW SWIMMING CLUB

PARENTS generally will welcome the formation of the Whakatane Swimming Club, which is pledged to a programme of popularising swimming by way ot organised sports and competitions, as well as by making it as much as possible a useful achievement and a pleasant pastime. .Ai too often in the past drowning tragedies have occurred m this town mainly through the inability of the victims to be able to help themselves in the water. The new club will be, we understand extending its activities to life-savmg and resuscitation, and is particularly dedicating itself to the correct instruction of children in the natatorial art. The objectives could therefore scarcely be better, and we have no doubt but that the warmest support will be forthcoming from all sections of the community when the club makes its o.ii.cial bow to the public..
