"MIRACLE OF PINE"
FILM OF WHAKATANE PAPER
MILLS
Recently the New Zealand National Film Unit recorded on celluloid the story of the production of paper and the entire film was made at the Whakatane Paper Mills. Naturally this picture will be exceedingly interesting to local residents for in it, not only mill workers from Whakatane, but also a number of scenes of-the locality of the mill and its surroundings are depicted. The whole process from the time the trees are stripped of bark to t!ie time the finis-lied product is sent to the packing room is ,:hoAVn ? and will probably lie quite an education even I'or residents of this town. Cameramen engaged in work among the Kiwis overseas have stated that whereas some New Zealander.s arc 'natural born' movie actors, others are absolutely hopeless. Who knows, but what some, new screen talent, may be spotted among the men from the mill who came within range of the camera lens! At least local audiences will have the satisfaction of knowing some of their number who under different conditions might well have bccomc Clark Gables Charles Lauglitons, or Hop- ■? along Cassidys. Under the title of "Miracle of Pine" the film will be showing at the Regent Theatre tomorrow and Monday. It should be well worth seeing.
