RED CROSS HALL
Sir —In common with many others, I have noted the preparations in hand and timber on the site > for the above project. To say the least it seems strange, during the. present serious shortage of housing to find a branch of the Red Cross, a society renowned for its humanitarian works, prepared to push ahead with such needless use of building materials. Only last week our local speaking in Wellington advocated a policy of building houses before anything else—sound advice which I think our local Red Cross branch could well heed before going further. 1 am convinced " from my own enquiries that considerable opposition tpwards this, building scheme, exists in the town, and to proceed with it at the present time will seriously alleviate public support for the Society. Yours etc. c. 't. bathe;.
