Scout Benefit Concert Arrangements are now proceeding for the staging of a Grand Benefit. Concert in aid of funds for the Rotoma Boy Scout Camp site in the Grand Theatre. The concert has been made possible through the courtesy of the Women's Institute Drama Festival whereby it has been, made possible to re-stage four of the leading plays presented at the recent competition. r lhe date lias been tentatively fixed for Tbursdav October 4. Driver's Despicable Action A driver of a red truck } last evening overtook and ran over a young 5 boy riding a bicycle on Domain Road and drove oft. How the boy was not killed is a miracle as liis machine was crushed beyond recognition. The. boy was struck on the head and legs but was fortunately thrown clear. In a dazed condition he was questioned by another motorist who witnessed the incident but declared himself alright. The unfortunate. aspect is that the real culprit who made himself scarce as soon as he struck the boy, cannot be identified and cooperation in this respect is invited. . Trout Fry Liberations Last week some 234 000 trout fry were liberated in the Waioeka Stream and the Waimana in the Bay, of and were sent to Okataina.'To fry have been liberated from the Ngongotalia while 1,090 ? 000 from the Tongariro hatchery have been liberated, in that area. There are approximately fry still to be liberated from the Ngongotaha hatchery, and from Tongariro. From the third hatchery at Waikaremoana 400 t OOO fry have been liberated in the Wairoa district. Work at all the hatcheries should be completed by about October 20. Ova collected late in the season is being prepared for despatch to the South Island. Enlarging on the above the Conservator of Fish and Game (Rotorua) Mr Kean # said that during the present month two re--leases of and ova had been liberated in the Waioeka and 9 firms in the district is treating in the Waimana. These figures were supplied to the Wha'katane Rod and Gun Club.
