WHITEBAIT RUNNING
GOOD CATCHES RECORDED Excellent catches of whitebait have been recorded during the past few weeks and the amount caught in short periods in several instances would seem to suggest that this season has far outstripped those for some years; past. The heavy run commenced about a fortnight ago, when one fisherman netted almost thirty pounds in a very short period at thje bridge. This was followed by further good catches from groins in the river by others. But last Sunday exceeded all expectations j when, one enthusiast netted forty pounds in quarters of an fishing from the point of the river at the western end of the town where recent Harbour Board reclamation work was carried out. It should he noted that the season for whitebait closes officially, on November 15,
