VALEDICTORY
MR AND MRS T. WILKINSON
Members of the clerical and field staff of the Native Department's Whakatane Office, together with their wives, assembled on Friday afternoon to farewell Mr and iVlrs T. Wilkinson ' on the eve of their departure for where Mr Wilkinson has been transferred as Native Welfare Officer. Mr L. H. Brown an ex-officer of the Depart-, ment and Mrs Brown were also present. Various speakers referred to the good work done by Mr Wilkinson during his 14 years.' service with the Whakatane Office and the high l esteem in which he was held by both Maori and pakelia workers and officers of the department. Mr R on behalf of the staff presented a smoker's companion to Mr Wilkinson, and a fountain pen to Mrs Wilkinson. On behalf of the ladies Miss Valeric Woods asked Mrs Wilkinson to accept a shoulder spray. A delicious nffrernoon tea was later served' in the coffee lounge.
