TAXATION

Sir ? —l wonder how much longer the AV'orkers of New Zealand are going to put up with a gang of political leaders who are going the right way to drive New Zealand into bankruptcy. Do they realise that while they are being taxed to a that our Labour leaders t are drawing salaries three or four times larger than Stalin, Molo-tov and other great Russian leaders, who govern 180 } - 000 000 people. Do these men who the workers and producers of New Zealand elected to go short of the necessaries of life. I doubt it. Mr Semple. tells the workers to work harder and produce more. What for ? To keep an ever increasing army of inspectors controllers and other parasites in a fat job, while the workers are taxed to the limit and robbed of what they produce. Only an -imbecile would say a Labour which takes £i;i,000 000 in sales apart from millions in other taxes is a 'work-i

era' Govcrnment. The Labour Government lias created and established monopolies under the pretence of giving work to workers protected uneconomic industries, and blocked cheaper goods reaching the people with a multii tude of restrictions, import controls and tariff barriers. These Labourites are neither Communistic Socialistic or friends oL' the small traderHow can a Labour Government be socialistic while drawing fat salaries for its members and taxing those that produce. Simply a policy of "killing the goose that lays the golden egg." However, in co#.lusion I would suggest that tbis socalled Labour Government should cut the rations out completely, es+ pecially tobacco, butter and other necessities, and as a prophet 'I can venture to predict they will be outneck and crop at the next elections— Yours etc^ STAN EVANS.
