Sir —Will you kindly grant me space in your esteemed xjaper, to try and represent another point of view In regard to the proposed Co-op Farm .Machinery movement as presented to the Directors of the Rangi-* taiki Dairy Company. No doubt as you say in your leader of the 7th in-st Mr Withy's scheme is the very essence of but begging his pardon in these times of so much State with move to follow, it is the double distilled essence of stupidity also. If a tithe of what the Government has plundered fronV the land in the past seven or eight years, for its social political purposes had been put back into the land, there would be no such persons as. the small struggling farmers you mention nor would farmers generally be driven to such impossible niet.hods. v to acquire the means of working their land, to overcome the difficulties the Government is imposing on them. I say without prejudice, if the Government want the privilege of alone dealing in any class of pro-* duce well it is up to it to provide the facilities. Under the present regime farmers are only laying themselves open to further trouble in the form of more strikes. The dairy factory hands strike of last season ought to be proof enough of that.
