OPINION UNCHANGED

WAINUI TE WHARA ROAD In reply to the County Council's letter that its members were still of the opinion that the road through the Wainui Te YVhara (Maractotara) should be restored to its original width the Borough Council last evening decided to reply to the effect that it had nothing further to add to its original letter.

Cr Canning said that it was all very well for the County Council to require these things, the Borough was hard up financially having been badly hit by the last Hood and it was impossible to shoulder a heavy outlay of this nature.

Cr Shapley pointed out that the Council Mas- dt>ing all it could to meet the position and the Borough Foreman was improving the gorge from time to time as ,*poil became available.
