PARISHIONERS GATHER
FAREWELL TO MR AND MRS LUKE RANGI A very gay social was staged in the Parish Hall on Wednesday evening when parishioners of the Church 1 of England combined to give a farewell evening to Mr and Mrs Luke Rangi who are leaving in the near future to take up residence in Whangarei. Approximately 150 people attended and the 1 evening was spent in community singing items ? competitions and dancing, topped off by a delicious supper. Alter supper the Rev. J. C. J. Wilson > Vicar of the Parish spoke on behalf of parishioners and extended his best wishes for the success and future happiness in their new home of Mr and Mrs Rangi.
Mr B. S. Barry also spoke commenting on the great help both Mr and Mrs !Rangi*liad been to Maori and pakeha alike and also on the great manner in which they had supported the numerous bodies in the district to which they had been attached.
Mr C. R. Coates, Parishioners Warden then presented Mr and Mrs Rangi with a cheque on behalf of the parishioners and wished them every hfappiness and success for the future.
Replying Mr Rangi said how much both he and Mrs Rangi ap-< preciated the farewell accorded them and extended his thanks ' for the presentation which had been made to them.
The remainder of the evening was spent in- community singing (led by Mrs R. Thompson) and dancing. Mr Ted Hayden supplied both accompaniments and music for dancing.
