SEA SCOUT UNIT
PROSPECTS FOR WHAKATANE MEMBERSHIP INVITED For some years past it has been the desire of a group of interested l people to form a Sea Scout crew in thus following- out the direction of Scout Headquarters that wherever possible on the sea coast these units should be created. With the transformation of the Whakatane Scottish Troop into a straightout Junior Pipe Ban<l ;< and 1 the consequent dissolving of that organisation as a scout body j it is now possible to work for the realisation of the Sea Scout proposal. Already in the Bay of Plenty Sea Scout units have become remarkably popular three having been formed at Tauranga and Alt. Maunganui. The Whakatane unit will make a fourth. Officers to take charge of the crews arc ottering including one who is an ex-Sea Scout Naval and Merchant Service man. Any boys who desire to be associated as members, should get in touch with' the Commissioner 'phone 366.
