PEACE CELEBRATIONS A TJaanksgiving Service was held in the Waimana Hall on the Ttours* day evening when a good number of residents were present. The children of the district and parents were entertained at a picture programme, on Friday morning and. i then luncheon was served and a programme of sports and games <tnd afternoon tea entered upon by the children in the afternoon. The day's celebrations concluded with a Victory Ball whicli was well attended by dancers from all parts of the district. The hall bad been suitably decorated -with Nekau palms ? ilag-s ilowers and a most attractive "Victory V" made by Mrs Mortcnson. The dance music \vas supplied by the Waimana dance band and. Mr Boynton's dance band. Mr Sterling carried out the duties of M.C. in a most efficient manner. The novelty dances were greatly enjoyed, and also a few minutes of community singing. A most appetising supper was served by a willing band, of helpers and dancing continued until ' the early hours of th'e morning.
