WEDDING BELLS

MEAD—McGOUGAN The Presbyterian Church Taiieatua, was the scene of a very pretty wedding on' Wednesday t August 22, when Maida fourth daughter of Mr and Mrs A. F. was married to Frank Dunbar eldest son of Mr and Mrs V. Mead; Devon* port. The bridegroom is ; a returned Prisoner of War, having been captured in Greece,

The bride, who was given away by her father wore a classic gown, of creme embossed satin with long waisted effect, trimmefd at the back with tiny buttons from neck to waist. Her veil which was intri-* cately worked on fine' cobwebby tulle, draped down over the long train, and was caught up with a coronet of orange blossom.

Her three attendants were Misses Sunice McGougan (sister), Jean Mead (bridegroom's sister) and Betty Mitchell (niece of the bride). All were dressed in long waisted dusky pink cloque gowns, with bead-dresses of real flowers and jjosies of pink ami blue tonings.

Attending the groom were Mr Trevor Hill best man and Messrs:

David Mead and Cliff Butler groomsmen .

The wedding music was played by Mrs F. G. Yeoman and Mrs T. W. James rendered a solo "Because"

in her usual delightful style.

Following the ceremony a recep-? tion was held in the Taneatua Mr and Mrs McGougan, assisted by Mr and Mrs Mead, received the guests. Visitors were present from Auckland, Gisborne j Hamilton and all parts of the Bay of Plenty Mr and Mrs McGougan being pioneer residents of the Opouriao. Valley, the guest list contained the names of many of the original settlers. A feature of the breakfast was the large three decker wedding cake made by Mrs San ton and iced by Mrs R. Peebles. The usual toasts were honoured, the toastmaster Rev. J. G. Laughton making particular reference to the impressive marriage service conducted by the officiating Minister, Rev. Mr Nummy.

Mr and Mrs Mead left later for a, tour of tHe North the bride travelling in a navy suit and hat with blue accessories. They intent! to make their home in North Auckland.
