Mishap with Sledgehammer While wielding a sledgehammer reR. a Maori boy aged 17 years, a Paper Mill worker sustained injuries to the right thigh when the head flew off and struck him. He was admitted to the Whakatane Public Hospital where he is reported to be progressing satisfactorily. Bible Class Picnic Sixty boys and girls, members of the Anglican Bible Edgecumbe journeyed last Friday to Lake Rotoma for a picnic under the lead--1 't ership of Cadet L. Rogers. An additional bus to Rotorua leaves Wha- , katane on Sunday at 7.30 p.m. The times for departure of the morning and afternoon buses to Opoti'ki have been extended by 15 minutes, while an extra bus will run on Sunday departing at 3.30 p.m. The times for the departure of the Gisborne buses have also been extended by 15 minutes while from now on, a bus will run to Te Whaiti on Monday as well as on Wednesday, departing at 4.15 p.m. Ragwort Grant Writing the County Council the Department of Agriculture has adviseid that an allocation of £3500 has been made to the Council, for the control of noxious weeds for the current year,. The Council resolved that the Agriculture Department be j:hanked for its grant—that the Department be also advi&ed the Council spends the grant only on Crown and uninidividualised Native lands — that the Native Department be asked if it required £500 for expenditure on materials, labour to provided at the Department's aiifd materials to be used on unimlivid- , ualised Native and Crown lands in ; the Ruatoki area. i
