CELEBRATING VICTORY
FORTHCOMING OTAKIRI BALL
The Grand Victory Ball advertised in today's issue to take place at Otakiri on September 4 promises to be a night of high entertainment for district patrons. The dance will also be the occasion ;of a fitting Welcome Home to a number of the disjtrict's returned soldiers j and presentations will be made on behalf of the. district residents.
This function, as advertised, will be the first Ball to be held' in Otakiri since pre-war days, and we understand the committee is doing all in its' power to stage a first class entertainment. "Claret Cup" is to be served, while supper, which it is intended shall be something in the way of an; extra special effort, will include such delicacies as and jellies etc. with all the usual trimming^. Among those returned men who arc to lie officially welcomed are: A. Smithy K. G. Whalley, H. Revell' A. Evans, E. Coad, H. Whalley H. Woods, P. Watson, OSwan and M. Woodbury.
