At the meeting of the Chamber of Commerce Mr P. L„ Green was unanimously elected a member. The Mr H. G. .Warren, welcomed also Messrs Cliurcliouse and, Shirley.
By unanimous vote of thie Tauranga Rotorua and Opotiki County Councils Mr J. L. Chairman of the Whakatane County Council was selected as representative of Ward No. 6 y "(Bay of Plenty) on the Counties Association Executive. At the last meeting of the Whaka'tane Council, Mr Burnett received formal congratulations from his colleagues.
After twenty-five yeais continuous service on the outside staff of the Wbakatane County Council, Mr T. Foreman was presented with a cheque by the Council last Tuesday on the approach of his retirement. The Chairman Mr J. L. Burnett J * spoke with some feeling when he referred to Mr Foreman as an old
and valued servant who had been one of the first drivers when the Council decided to mechanise its equipment. Mr Foreman he had been driving a grader ever since that, time and he was recognised as an expert in that capacity. He wished him continued long life 5 happiness and good health. Crs McCready i Burt and McGougan were also warm in their praise. Mr Foreman briefly responded.
