WHAKATANE GOLF CLUB SATURDAY'S PLAY Last Saturday the first qualifying round for the championships were played. Except for a fairly heavy squall the playing conditions were not bad but as is usual in qualifying rounds the scoring was poor. in the senior division the best card was returned by W. Steel 83 followed by N. Hockin 84 and W. Syme 84. In the Intermediates Iv. Milne, returned an 84 followed by L. Lux ton 87. The juniors were headed by L. Spring 92 and J. Dcnham 94. Rotorua Soldiers On Saturday afternoon and Sunday the club entertained a number of convalescent soldiers, from the Rotorua Hospital. They were a very keen lot of golfers and .an extremely pleasant day was s.pcnt» Once again the ladies contributed most generously both in food and work.
