MAORI REACTIONS
HOSPITAL MATTERS DISCUSSED TRIBAL COMMITTEE'S RESOLUTIONS In a letter to the Whakatane Hospital Board yesterday the Secretary of the Matatua Tribal Council Ruatoki # intimated that at the last meeting Mr H. C. McCready had addressed the gathering on hospital matters and their relationship to tlie health o'f the local Maori community. The following motions had been carried:— (1) That better housing conditions for Maoris generally was one of the major solutions for the bet* terment of the health of the race. (2) That the Government he asked to meet all Maori rate allocation by special grant. (3) That the Board be requested to make possible a visit by an avaiL able doctor to address the Council at its next meeting. (1) That the Board be asked to receive a deputation at its next meeting. The chairman (Mr L. Buddie) said that the deputation had been arranged when the various points could be discussed.
