FUTURE TRADESMEN
EX-SERVICEMEN TRAINEES The building industry gained yet another 33 future tradesmen during June } states the Rehabilitation Department. These were men returned from overseas who during that month commenced training at the department's centres throughout the country. There were besides 36 cx,servicemen who Avere placed on a subsidised basis with private era11 revived their pre-service apprenticeships and 22 entered the centres, of the Disabled Servicemen's Re-establishment League. A total of 221 ex-servicemen were approved for various forms of trade training during the month, 4'3 actually completed their courses, while 24 discontinued training owing to ill-health and other reasons. Until the end of June there had been 3277 ex-servicemen approved for some form of trade training while at that date 1926 were engaged in training either at an instructional centre or subsidised with private employers. There were also 864 who had completed training 96 awaiting the commencement of their training and 391 who for varying reasons had discontinued.
