EX-SERVICEMEN STUDENTS
REHABILITATION ASSISTANCE
Assistance towards furthering their educational careers, was given 177 ex-servicemen find women during the month of June, says the monthlyreport of the Rehabilitation Board. This brought the total number of those helped in this manner to of which 1604 had seen service overseas. Full-time bursaries had until the end of June been awarded to 594 ex-servicemen while 1256 had received grants' covering fees ami books and 78 had been allocated miscellaneous small grants. With the awarding of 11 more bursaries for study the total number of ex-servicemen personnel benefitting by these as at the end of June reached 45. The .subjects and the number of bursars taking them are: Doctor of Philosophy (5) veterinary science (5) radio therapy (3), Bachelor of Arts town planning physical training, architecture post-graduate medicine (two with one bursar in each case taking genetics Bachelor of Science, chiropod}", obstetrics agricultural .science local body administration orthopaedic nursing thoracic nursing matron's administration? valuation and farm management, experimental education final bar examination mathematics and modern languages dental post-graduate, organisation and diploma in design public administration, Bachelor of Pharmacy business and engineering administration. Overseas bursars under the Rehabilitation Board's scheme, are paid at the rate of £250 a year sterling. Students on full-time bursaries in New Zealand receive subsistence aF lowances up to £3. 3s a week in the case of single men and £5 ss. a week in the case of married men.
