YEAR'S ACTIVITIES OUTLINED The following report oil the year's activities was presented by Mr E. J. Ramson Superintendent of the St. John Ambulance Whakatane Men's Brigade, at the animal meeting held last Wednesday evening In tlie Borough Council Chambers:— The past year has marked a great advancement in the history of our Brigade, The Brigade activities have increased a great deal and this; year has been a record one. The ambulance has covered 4409 miles during the year making 81 trips and conveying 85 patients to the hospital. On two occasions two patients have been carried at the same time. The number of cases treated by the Brigade including public duties numbers over 1(30. The Cadets have played their part as usual and have been of great, assistance to the Senior Brigade. by their attendance at public duties and in the maintenance of the Ambulance. They are doing a great job under the guidance of Cadet Superintendent Drube and Cadet Officer Abbott.

Classes have been held at Whakatane and Waimana during tlxe year. I would like to thank Drs. Appleby ? Cole and Dawson lor their assist-, ance during the year. Their lecturcs have been greatly appreciated by the Brigade and we look forward to more of them during the coming year. During the year several of our members have returned from overseas and although at present have not rejoined the Brigade we hope that when they have settled down again to civilian life they will j be with us again. T would like to suggest to the association that wc endeavour to follow the Auckland Association's idea for increasing the Brigade membership. We ) like arc finding that our work is ever increasing and in order to 'copc fully with .the calls made and to be made our membership will have to increase. If this is done the present members will be greatly assisted. I suggest that the Association discusses this at their next meeting and if possible endeavours to formulate a scheme to bring about the increase in active membership. A new class is starting in the Methodist Hall commencing on the Ist Monday of next month and wall continue, each Monday until the course is completed. The annual re-inspection of the Brigade will take place in the date having yet to be. arranged with Dr. Appleby.
