NOT SUFFICIENTLY RECOGNISED
t PLEDGED to the task of improving the appearance of Whajcatane the local Beautifying Society, appears to be rapidly beceming the 'Cinderella' of institutions as far as recognition by the general public is concerned. The apathetic attitude of the average citizen towards this group of pro-gressively-minded residents is to be deplored, for no town needs the artistic touching-up of beautification more than Whakatane. More active co-operation is urgently needed from the town's local bodies. More financial assitance from Borough Council ajid Chamber of Commerce. But the main need at the present time is for publicly-minded members who will back the Society up both manually and morally.
