Spirit Prices
A price order has been gazetted, affecting the sale of spirits an/l. fixing minimum prices. The order states that when the quantity of spirits contained" 1 in a drink is less than a full standard measure the maximum price shall be sixpence. A full standard measure of spirits will cost tenpence. When flavouiv ing or diluting ingredients are addled no- extra charge shall be made. The definition of a standard meas r ure given in the order i& that it shall be 1.-42 nd, part of a reputed quart. The liquors affected are whisky rum ; brandy and gin. Longevity What is believed to be a world record so far as family longevity is concerned has been brought to notice by the death of Mr Hori Matine at the age of 107 years. A aged 102, is still living, ? states a message from Te Aw 7 amutu. Mr Hori Matine came to the Korakonui district before the Maori War ? and was engaged at farm work. He was. highly esteemed by both Maoris and pakehas.
