WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT EDGECUMBE The July meeting of the Edgeeumbe Women's Institute was held on Tuesday. Mrs Burgess presided over a good attendance. Alter routine business was dealt with an appeal for clothing for Polish children in New Zealand was read. Mrs Blair kindly offered garments J'or the inquired quota. Members offered to visit a member who is in hospital. A "Consequences" competition arranged by Mrs Learning caused much amusement. A musical parcel was won by Mrs Thomson. A shrubs and tree competition was won by Mrs Mai pas. The roll call "A demonstration I would like" brought, forth many excellent suggestions. The hostesses for the day served a dainty afternoon tea—they were Mrs Learning Mrs Mexted Mrs Sal-! > > vidge and Mrs Law. Competitions were won as follows: Best (lower, Mrs Wilson 1; Mrs A. Russell 2. Winter cabbage Mrs List i; Mrs Spiers 2. Seaman's cap Mrs Russell 1; Mrs List 2. The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
