WHAT ABOUT THE FARMERS ? At last meeting of the Auckland Executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union the following remit from the Bay of Islands was read:— "That this meeting considers that the time has come when' farmers must receive recognition of the hours they and their families work in relation to the "10-hour week basis now fully recognised by the Government, and urges the executive to continue its efforts to that end." Delegates expressed approval of the. principle involved in the remit but pointed out the difficulties of checking hours worked on farms. Mr K. Palliser suggested that the best line of approach would be to seek better pay for the full-time worker on a farm. ;
