WHAKATANE GOLF CLUB ixm SATURDAY'S RESULTS I Last Saturday the qualifying rounds for the Fortune and Founders Cups was played. P. Mooch" eelebrated his return to active golf by - returning a net 69, thus being the first to qualify and winning for liim - the President's Trophy. Other good , scores were Campbell 71 Denham 72 and Connell 78 all net. Connell returned the best gross score Jor the day 81. The Fortune and Founders Cups - are decided by match play on hanr Vlicap and the draws for the first ' rounds to be played tomorrow are f as follows: — i. Fortune Cup: Moody v Spring; Denham v Sloane; Cockerell v Henderson: Spence v Berg: Campbell v Moore; Connell v Rangi; Rev. llangi j v Stone; Syme v Burs tall. Founders Cup: R. Butler v Hockin; Hyland v Steel; Bridger v Dawson; Morpeth v Wylie; Littlejohn v Alexander; Carter v Powdrell; Barry v Wright; Milne v Anderson. Fliglit: Suckling v Wilding; Bushel t v Hay; King v Rev. Wilson; Brown v Combes; Cradwick v Lux; ton; B. Butler v Corbett; J. Wilson v Dallas; Winstone v Philcox. Open Day: Next Saturday, Juty 15, the club is holding an Open Day, and has issued cordial invitations to members of other Bay of Plenty Clubs to be present. Players are. requested to bring their own lunch but afternoon tea. will be provided. A large muster has been promiserd and a first class day's golf .should be enjoyed. Competitions will be played on handicap one in the morning and one in the' afternoon for which an entrance fee of 5s will be charged.
