ALLEGED CARNAL KNOWLEDGE

WAIMANA MAN COMMITTED

In the Whakatane Court yesterday morning Bertie William Hughes (Mr Barry) was charged before Messrs. G. A. Brabant and C. H. Christensen .LPs. with unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl over the age of 12 years and under lfJ years. The incidents were all alleged to have taken place at Waimana between September '21, 1944, and March 31, 194.5. Alter preliminary evidence was taken accused pleaded ' not guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court Auckland, on July 24, for trial.
