Minister of Works stated that the delay in putting into'; effect the preventive measures in '• mind was entirely due to the ladW' of labour available. The Minister. 5 stated that owing to the nature of! the erosion the Department was ' most anxious to complete the work ' and had actually commenced opera-* s tions in a modest way. He asked if-' it were possible, for the Council to - co-operate in any way—a 7 which would be greatly appreciated.? The Mayor observed that the work \ ahead involved a much bigger job * now ) than it would have been had '* it tackled when it was first brought to the notice of the Rivers > Control and Soil Conservation Goun-,, cil.
