BRIGHT EDGECUMBE GATHERING Fun and frolic were provided in full measure at the social to mark the return of Geof Sutton, former P.O.W. in the Awakeri Hall last Saturday night. Mr and Mrs F. Sutton were, hosts to ,a very large gathering. One of the most entertaining games, our reporter has ever seen the "Gasbags Derby" provided great amusement- and convinced him it had its origin in Wellington. "Paddy McGinty's Goat" was; there too while that lpcal Jack I Rust showed that the hand is much quicker than the eye. Dance music was provided by Messrs Reg Tompson (piano) and P. Eagleson (drums). Enjoyable extras were provided by Mrs Fowlds and Mr C. Plank. In a brief speech Mr Len Luke expressed to Mr and Mrs Sutton the thanks of the gathering at being present on such a happy occasion and sharing with them the joy of a son's return. Enthusiastic musical honours were accorded the hosts of the evening. In spite of long years of captivity Geof locked remarkably well and was obviously happy to be back amongst friends.
