WHAKATANE GOLF CLUB SATURDAY'S RESULTS After an unpromising start Saturday cleared tip and quite good playing conditions were experienced. In the Four-ball Bast-ball the following were the best cards handed in: R. Butler and Bridger 2 up; Milne and Combes 1 down; Campbell and Syme 2 down.: Wright and King 2 down; Barry and Littlejohn 3 down; Morpeth and B. Butler 3 down. Sectional Matches The sectional matches progressed a stage further. In the senior division Connell beat Steel and Butler beat Connell. This> leaves Butler and Syme to decide the finals. In the junior section Dawson beat Sloane and Denham beat Rev. Wil-* son. This leaves Dawson and Denham to Contest the linals. Tomorrow's Draw On Saturday the qualifying rounds will be played for the Fortune and Founders Cups. This is a medal round played on handicap the best net scores winning the President's Trophy. The first If) will qualify for the Fortune Cup and the second. 1G will qualify for the Founders Cup while the remainder will be drawn to play in a Flight. DRAW FOR APPLEBY CUP The third and final round of the Appleby Cup together with the June Medal will be played on Saturday. All competitions were cancelled last weekend so the remaining matches in connection with the second round of the Allan Trophy have until 1.-1 inst to he played off.
