LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

WHAKATANE BRANCH MEETS ADDRESS BY REV. BELT, The monthly meeting* of the Wliakatane League of Mothers was held in Knox Hall on Tuesday afternoon. In the absence of the Mrs Sullivan presided over a good attendance of members and friends. The Aims and Objects of the League stressing the charge for religious teaching of children were read, all then joining in the League's- prayer and prayers for peace. Mrs McKenzie gave the thought for the month 'Count time from spring to spring. It is better to reckon by blossoms than blight.' The main item for the afternoon was an address, by the Rev. Bell. He emphasised that four w T alls did not comprise a home. The home was made by the mother and th<; great need of today was spiritual mothers. He likened a great many 1 of the homes of today to petrol sta- ' tions, where a call was made tor | fuel and repairs and then left. The home was made by the mothers and the obligation was on the women to make them. A sincere full belief in ' God was the mainspring of a spiritual life and a mother could impart her faith to all within her house by her living example. Mr Bell also exhorted the mothers to give to their children a true and holy conception of sex, having regard to the age of the child. This - was a matter that .should be learned i from parents and not picked up \ from other sources. He charged the women of the na- . tion not to fail*'in their Christian - duty within their homes, as other- - wise the roots of the nation woul( ■- die and Christianity wither away, d Mr Bell was warmly applauded t'ot ■- hi.s interesting address, alter whicl e a short play entitled .'Snowed in wit} n a Duchess' was given by Mesdaine: 1 Barry Hepburn, Rushbrook ant . God produced bv Mrs Hepburn d which was greatly enjoyed. t- Afternon tea was dispensed s. two members of the committee aftc d which the meeting closed with th< National Anthem.
