REGENT PREVIEW

"A GUY NAMED JOE" You've probably hea/rd oJ[ naiSed Joe every day of your life. And you've probably seen a guy named Joe as many times as> you've heard the name. But, in the American Air Force, every guy up in a plane is "Joe." The main reason for this is that if the Japs could identify any particular officer by. name or rank, they would concentrate on liim in an endeavour to pick him off. The story of "A Guy Named Joe" is based on the legend that no pilot ever dies, but lives on to aid and guide other young pilots fighting the war thousands of feet over the earth. The film deals with a reckless daredevil pilot (Spencer Tracy) and his sweetheart (Irene Dunne) a pilot in the Ferry Transport Command. They knew how to laugh and love and face high adventure togethcr. as Major Pete Sandidge has a difficult part to a part which calls for unusual acting ability jjarticularly in the. latter part of the film which takes a turn to the fantasy but he handles it in a manner which merits nothing but the highest praise. Thrillingly united in the strange, romantic story that was written to bring them together Spencer Tracy , ■* and Irene Dunne, together for the first time in screen history make screen history in this picture as fascinating and emotionally satisfying as anything yet to t:ome to the screen. Tears laughs and romance for every pulsing thrill make "A Guy Named Joe" the greatest film of its type ever to be produced. Coming to the Regent: Saturday and Monday ? June 30 # July 2.
