The finances of the. Board were in a sound con-' dition credit at September 30 being £7712 (is. He was also pleased to report that after recent expenditure of over £2150 on .groynes, present credit was £7891 lis. A lii\st charge on such credit Avould be the halfyearly interest o! £21300 which was due on September 150. Included in such credit was £2500 from Post Of-i lice site and £2000 Semmen's grovne j maintenance contract. (At the ord-> inary meeting which followed it was decided to. invest £1000, almost the whole of the remaining sum in ,the 1945 Victory Loan.) Til 1942/43 wharfages reached their lowest £8135, It was pleasing to note that in the current year an improvement on this figure was evident. In its peak year. the wharfage receipt was £5417. Three sections were leased to Messrs Macklow, . Brabants' Properties and Patterson meaning that there were now no sections available. Speaking of the new groyne at the rear of the Strand Mr Boon said that this had stood up to the last flood which could be regarded in the nature of a test for the work remarkably well. Only a small portion had been washed from the end and this could be replaced wit)i very little trouble. Altogether lie viewed the project with success. Mr Boon thanked members of the Board for their co-« operation, and said that the position ol chairman was a easy one when the Board worked in haiN mony as it did. * *
