VANDALISM IN DOMAIN
Sir _Thc Whakatane Domain Board is concerned over the recent damage done to public property under its care. Electrical equipment has been destroyed , and two trees ringbarked and killed. One of these was a handsome Araucaria (Monkey Puzzle)ten years old or more. The finances of the board are limited and it is unable to keep a fulltime nor does there appear to be any prospect of its being able to do so until the war is over and revenue can be obtained from sports bodies and an increased number of visitors to the .motor camp. In the meantime it is doing all it can to maintain the area in reasonable order and I have been directed to appeal for public co-operation in this matter. Particularly it is requested that instances of the misuse of the Domain be reported, together with the names of the offenders- to enable the board to take suitable action. The board feels that the Domain is an asset of great value to Whakatane and. that it is the duty of the citizens as well as of the boarid to take every care of it.
Yours etc. I. B. HUBBARD 9 Hon. Secy j Whakatane Domain Board.
