FROM A NAVAL AUTHORITY—
Speaking at Gibraltar Admiral Jellicoe once said: "An officer holding a command which carries with it any measure of responsibility for the defence of the Empire, must recognise, as I do, the value of temperance in promoting fighting cffi-i ciency. In the Navy there are three qualities upon which efficiency mainly depends. They are discipline, straight shooting and endurance; the temperance unquestionably tends greatly to the promotion of tljose qualities." Inserted by Bay of Plenty S.D.A. Temperance. Society as funds permit. F. T. Tate, Secretary, Matata. P.B.A.
