Fireside Suite Winner The winner of the competition for the fireside suite held in support of V.A.D. funds was, Mr C. C. Bridger of James Street, Whakatane. The ticket was number 131. Hospital Figures for May The following report was submitted by the Medical Superintendent at the June meeting of the Whakatane Hospital Board yesterday: Remaining in at beginning of month ? 50 males 57 females; admissions., 41 males .89 females; 46 males 91 females; deaths, 4 males 1 female; remaining in at end of month 43 males 52 females; births, 15 males 15 females; operations 60. Daily occupied beds 100.09. Domain Conveniences: Strong condemnation of the state of the conveniences in the Whakatane was voiced by the Health Inspector in the course oF his report to the Borough Council last Monday evening. The facilities were described as a disgrace to the Domain and the Borough was asked to take appropriate steps to rectify the position. The Mayor pointed out that the complaint should have been made to the Domain Board as the Council had no jurisdiction over the Domain ? though it was concerned over the state of affairs described.
