COMMITTEE SET UP HARBOUR BOARD REPRESENTED At the request of the Whakatane Borough Council which ha® been, asked to arrange a committee representative of interests in Whakatane to go into the question; of Regional Planing, the. Whakatane Harbour .Board- at its meeting on Friday appointed two representatives. to fill the positions allotted on the committee. The letter from the Council, requesting the ajipointment of the representatives stated that a conference of local body representatives, interested Government Departments and other interested parties in the Bay of Plenty had been held in Tuuranga in April at the instigation of the Organisation for National Development. The purpose of this conference was the setting up of a Re- . gional Planning Council, the functions of which would be, the coordination of district plans for future development and works throughout the area. His Worship the. Mayor had been requested to arrange the committee which, it was. decided should comprise seven members; three from the Whakatane Borough Council, two from the Chamber of Commerce, and two from the Whakatane Harbour Board. The Chairman (Mr W. R. Boon) and Mr G. A. Brabant were appointed to represent Harbour Board • interests.
