Word has been received that Nurse Gwen Ranby has arrived in. Egypt and has taken up duties at the General Hospital, Advice has been received by Mr and Mrs G. of that their son-in-law, Lance-Corporal A. E. who has ben a prisoner of war for five years, is now safe in the United Kingdom. Mr J. W. Clapham who has spent many years' as a missionary in Palestine and the Middle East is at present visiting Whakatane. He is staying with Mr J. of Clifton Road. Among those next-of-kin who received insignia and decorations of deceased personnel from His Excellency the Governor-General Sir Cyril Newall last week-end were Mr and Mrs W. Sullivan of Whakatane parents of the late Flight-Lieutenant M. A. Sullivan D.F.C.
