Mr and Mrs Colin Campbell, of Parua Bay, Whangarci. are the guests oi' Mr and Mrs M. King, Walmana. Word has been received by his parents Mr and Mrs ▲ . J. Canning, of Whakatane, that Petty Officer Maynard A. Canning,, has been released from service in the Royal Navy after years service aiid will be repatriated home on the next available boat. Petty Officer Canning lias had his share of adventures whilst at sea 5 not the least exciting being dive-bombed and torpedoed. He should have a good yarn to tell jon his return. Advice has been received by Mr and Mrs H. W. Burt, of Matuta f that their son W.O. Glen Robertson Burt who was a former prisoner of war is now safe in England. Warrant Officer Burt left this country for Canada on January Ist, 1941 at the age of 20. He was later drafted to England where he served in the 'hamptons. He was posted missing on May 14th 1943 and two years later to the very day comes news of his safe arrival in Blighty.
