Herd Recording.
Although the war has interfered considerably with the expansion ot the number oi' cows under test, every effort is being made to train the necessary staff and to obtain additional equipment for an expansion of numbers in the coming season. The six Consulting Officers appointed by the Board have been doing very useful work for the industry both along iines of advice on herd improvement matters and in collecting data on behalf of the industry, including data on increases in farm costs in the various districts. The use of this latter information has proved very valuable indeed when, negotiating with the Government in form cost allowances. Unfortuna- . teiy three of the consulting officers were called into the armed forces and continuity of the work originally planned for them was broke but will be again picked up in the coming .season.
