TEMPERANCE ACTIVITIES
BAY OF PLENTY SOCIETY On 6th May a meeting of the Bay of Plenty S.D.A. Temperance Society was held at which a thoughtprovoking reading from an authoritative medical work was listened to with interest. It is also good to record the fact that such an outstanding British periodical as the London Times should voice its opinion so outspokenly as in its statement: "The use of strong drink produces more idleness crime disease want, y 1 '9' misery than all other causes put together." Plans were discussed and decisions made regarding the temperance question. As a first step in encouraging the Christian principle ol' temperance it. was. decided to utilise the local press for the dissemination of material that it was felt should be! brought before the public notice. Realising that others are also deeply concerned over this question the Society invites their co-operation in presenting the truth regarding alcohol. The use of the press demands
