RUGBY AT EDGECUMBE
SEVEN - A-SIDE TOURNEY
A very successful junior seven-a-side tourney was held at Edgecumbc last Saturday } thirteen teams taking part. Two a semi-final and a final were the. winners in the end being Thornton A, which defeated Edgecumbe by 10 points to, nil. Four senior teams also competed in a tourney ? that from Edgecumbe being ,the winner. Some of the games were very keenly contested, and considering the earliness of the season, the players turned out very well indeed. Following are the results in detail:— Juniors Ist, Round: Thornton A 5 v Awaken A 3; Tc. Teko A 3 v Awakcri B 0; Matata A 5 v Whakatane A 3; Whakatane B 13 v Matata B 0: Te Teko B 8 v Otakiri B 0. Thornton a bye. 2nd Round: Thornton A 11 v Whakatane B 0; Tc Teko B 3 v Thornton B 0; Edgecumbe If! v Te Teko A 0; Matataa bye!. Semi-linal: Thornton A 9 v Matata A 0; Edgecumbe 11 v Te Teko B 8. Final: Thornton A 10 v Edgecumbe 0. Seniors Edgecumbe 19 v Otakiri B 0; Otakiri. A 16 v Te. Teko 0. Final: Edgecumbe 8 v Otakiri A 0.
