Bridge Repairs

Reporting to the Whakatanc County Council at its last meeting on the of repairs at present being mnide to bridges in the district, the Engineer, Mr C. H. Brebner said that repairs had been carried out to Cow's Road Bridge and to Goldsmith's Bridge on the Railway Roa\d West. Sis-ley's Road Bridge also had received attention. The Military Road Bridge had collapsed and had hall to be rebuilt. The bridge on Paul's Road had also collapsed and Mas now being rebuilt. The Omeheu Bridge, was in a bail way and would be rebuilt as soon as possible. The bridge over the Tarawera River on the Railway Ro;-d A Vest required redecking. The Avhole of the decking was in a bad state of repair. Tt would be. necessary to close the bridge for half hour periods when it was being repaired as it would be impossible to do the work with the traffic passing all the time, it would be more convenient for the public to have to wait for a short period than to close the road for .several days aid;l necessitate a long* detour. This work would not be commenced until the balance of the decking was delivered to the bridge site.
