BAND CONCERT
YOUTHFUL INSTRUMENTALISTS LAST THURSDAY'S ENTERTAINMENT Despite the inclemency of the weather a, fairly good' muster was present at the Caledonian Hall on Thursday evening when the Boy's Band! put on another very enjoyable concert for the purpose of raising additional funds in order to send a number of playerd to- Wellington to compete in the Band Contest. items were rendered by members of the band and others the whole 9 combining to make a first rate programme. Solos, l-endered were: "My Pretty Jane" L. Broadmore (cornet); "Luc-» rezie Borgia" GT. Skclton (cornet); "Santa Lucia" R. Ward (tenor horn); "Wakatipu" P. Ward (E Hat bass); ''Men of Harlaeh" P. Moore (trombone); "Whangaroa" A- Moore (E hat bass); "Senschute" B. Skelton (euphonium). The above items were very well rendered and the "appreciation of the public was shown in no uncertain fashion. Variety was added by a display of gymnastics given by Mr Phil Dixon's Gymnasium Club. Feats were performed on the horizontal bars and mats and altogether the boys put on a very good show. Two items ? "Musical Switch" and "Imperial Echoes" presented by the band were quite effective. The Grand Finale took the form of a vocal and instrumental item, "A Perfect Day" in which the whole band participated _ bringing the concert to a successful conclusion.
