HOLIDAY TOMORROW SERVICE IN WHAKATANE With the announcement of the momentous news of the arrnistifce in Europe, which occurred at 5 a.m. this morning, co>mes also the intimation that the Government of this country has decreed 1 a general holiday for Wednesday (tomorrow). This will be observed as arranged and advertised by various organisations and departments. In Whakatane ths only official ceremonial will be holding of the combined l service of Thanksgiving at Pohaturoa Rock at 11 a.m. This will bring all sections together in am effort to give thanks for the great victory over aggressions. It will be conducted by the combined clergy of the town and will be a general invitation to residents of town and country. In the evening in response to the Government's invitation special services will be conducted in the local churches at 7.30 p.m. Other centres will also follow suit including Edgecumbe where the Anglican Church will hold a service.
