OTAKIRI FAREWELL
NAVAL MAN HONOURED
A dance organised by the Otakiri Farewell and Welcome Home Committee was attended by the many friends and well wishers of Ordinary Seaman Bill Lord who has just completed lii.s final leave. Bright music was supplied by the Premier Orchestra, while Mr R. Armstrong carried out the duties of M.C. Winners of the various novelty dances Avcrc Air McCoy and Miss L. Mayo; Mr R. Latimer and Miss Barton and Mr M. Cummings and Miss Bryant. Alter the serving of a delicious supper Mr W. Chairman of the Otakiri Patriotic Committee exa tende ; d the best wishes of the district to Bill } while Mr Eggleson took the opportunity of making a presentation on behalf of fellow workers from the Rangitaiki Factory. Mr Cristall Chairman of the Fare- •> well Committee then made the district, presentation. Musical honours were accorded the guest of the evening after which he briefly thanked all for the gifts and evening given in his* honour. Dancing continued till the early hours when Auld Lang Syne brought the evening to a close.
