LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
APRIL MEETING HELD The monthly meeting of the League of Mothers was held in Knox Hall on Tuesday last. In the absence of the Mrs Gartshore Mrs Sullivan presided over a fair attendance. Mrs Sullivan and Mrs Suckling gave an account of the recent South Auckland Conference held in Hamilton. There, the Aims and Objects of the the sanctity of the marriage tie, and the teaching of religion to children w T ere stressed by the. Provincial President, Mrs Utting. Each officer spoke of her work, and the crowded hall gave testimony to the growth of the League. Mrs Poole, the Assistant Provincial gave her reasons why she considered it a prhilege. to belong to the League. She said 'Do you realise we are a unique organisation, belonging to no particular creed —absolutelv undemoninational 3 a society of homemakcrs banded together for the good of our children. As parents our whole life and thought centres round the spiritual "and physical well of our and I know of no other organisation which caters, for 'The advancement of Thy Kingdom and the good of our children' I. am told I am an old-fashioned young but in the League I meet, other women of goodwill irrespective of creed all asking one thing.' Mrs Appleby then gave a very interesting reading entitled 'Windows' by Elsie Iv. Morton. After a social hour the meeting J closed with the National Anthem.
