VISIT TO WHAKATANE
Something in the way of a novelty for Whakatane i's the visit ol' a carnival company which -has taken up its stand on the vacant lot at. the end of the Strand opposite the. Rock. The company is under the managership of Mr T. Phillips who has, for the past four years been serving in the Merchant Navy, and is at present on its first tour since the commencement of the war. This company is the one which was due. to be present at the Awaken Gvmkhana and with the ext t ception of the merry-go-round is almost the. same in every detail. Proceedings opened last night and will continue with a series of performances tonight and tomorrow night. Margo, 'the super man of magic' and Gunga, with 'the great Indian Rope l Trick' are featured together with numerous other illusions, novelties and attractions. Altogether .seventy-five tricks of magic are to be displayed. Prices are reasonable and the 9 show is bound to be. well supported by residents of Whakatane, as it has been everywhere it has staged.
