WHAKATANE PROSPECTS SUB-UNION MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the Wliakatane Rugby Sub-Union took place at Tancatua last Friday when reports indicated that the prospects l'or the forthcoming season were good. With an increasing number of men returning from overseas and carrying on with the game competitional Rugby should achieve a far better standard than has been .seen during the war years. The election of officers' resulted: —■ Patron Mr W. Sullivan, M.P.; Vice-> Patron Mr W. R. Boon; President 'j Mr W. Anderson; Vice-presidents, Messrs R. Morton, N. Bremner G. T. Lodge, H. C. R. L. Ricketts, J. D. Rivett and> Rev. W. Rangi; Hon. Auditor Mr T. E. Hamerton; Hon. Medical Officers, Drs. F. Appleby A. Fletcher Cole and G. Maaka; Senior Selectors, F. Peebles and 1. Tunui; Junior Selectors, J. Whitehead and P. Merito. It was decided that the season should open on May 12, and the draw for the senior and junior competitions will >)c published at an early date.

RANGITAIKI SUB-UNION FIRST ROUND DRAW Games to be*played under the auspices of the Rangitaiki Rugby SubUinon in the Senior and Junior first round will be as under: — Seniors May 5: Edgeeumbe v Matata; Te Teko v Otakiri. May 12: Matata v Te Teko; Otakiri v Edgeeumbe. May 19: Te Teko v Edgeeumbe; Otakiri v Matata. Juniors kick off at 1 p.m. Seniors kick otf at 2 p.m. Juniors May ~r.
