UNUSUAL ACCIDENT

HORSES COLLIDE WITH TRUCK An unusual accident occurred on the Manawahe-Matata road on Friday when two horses galloped headlong into a Power Board truck, which was stationary. The collision took place in the neighbourhood ol Dr. Appleby's farm. The riders of the horses were a Peterson, aged about 18 j'ears and a Trixie Coia aged about 12 years. The road in the particular spot where the accident occurred was very narrow, and the truck was parked on the side. The two horses came galloping round a corner were unable to stop, and crashed headone into each headlamp of the vehicle. Peterson was thrown, receiving bruises and cuts, while the horse which he was riding broke a leg and later had to be shot. The girl was also thrown, hut both she and her mount escaped injury.
